Guest post– “The Simplicity of His sweet presence.”

Good morning, Wonderful Readers!!!

To start off today, I just want to extend my Thankfulness to Mandy and Cindy for letting me write this guest post… it is such an incredible honour to be able to do so πŸ™‚ Well, since that is all said and done with…

Grab a tea and a comfy spot..put your feet up and let’s get started! The title of today’s post is -insert drum roll, sound effects- “The Simplicity of His sweet presence.”

Something I have recently been learning is that you don’t need a big church service with lights, instruments, guest speakers and a bunch of people to feel the presence of God…although these are all important in our Christian walk, they are only a part of God’s Orchestra on the earth…

I have always had the mindset that you need a conference or a big church event or even just a Pastor praying for you to have an “Encounter” with the Holy Spirit… I think the reason why I always had this mindset is because that’s the only place I ever had an “Encounter” with the Holy Spirit, in a way like that ever before.

Speaking of encounters with the Holy Spirit, just recently my church was having a Baptismal service at the beginning of this summer! (I always get so excited for Water Baptisms!! It is one of my favourite times in church). As I was standing at the front of the church that particular Sunday morning watching all these people as they came up from under the water, set free and cleansed by the Holy Spirit…..It was just amazing and oh so breath- taking! It filled my heart with an abundance of great joy! Something that my church does which is really neat and I absolutely love, is that every time someone comes up out of the water we Celebrate as a Congregation, as Community, as a Church Family. We shout for joy because a life now has a fresh start… To not look at the past but, to look forward to what God has in store for their new life!!

Off with the old, on with the new πŸ™‚

As they came near to the end of the water baptisms that day and things were starting to get a little more quiet and peaceful in the Sanctuary…One of the pastors said “If anyone wants to be baptized there is still time… Don’t worry we can find you a towel ;).” As she spoke those words I instantly had the urge, to want to be water baptized! …I was like “okay am I going crazy” or this actually the Holy Spirit telling me to do something? (on top of all this, I was wearing a pretty dress & high heels that Sunday πŸ˜› ..Goodness! Holy Spirit could have warned me that I needed to bring an outfit change…lol) So I ran over to my mom who was standing on the other side of the Sanctuary and I told her my thoughts…

Long story short… I got water Baptized (in my pretty dress) and had an amazing life-altering experience with God in that tank! It wasn’t about the many Pastors being in the tank praying for me, or the bunch of people watching, or the up-beat music playing in the back ground, or even my friends and family standing outside of the tank supporting me. It was just me and the Holy Spirit getting re-connected in such a simple, deeper, and intimate way πŸ™‚

After I came up from the water that day I felt so alive, free and ready to take on whatever life would throw my way…because I know the Holy Spirit lives inside of me and is always there! Whenever life has gotten stressful and times get rough…(well as rough as a 15year olds life can I think back to that “Encounter” with the Holy Spirit that radically changed my life forever that one Sunday morning πŸ™‚ I will cherish those tender memories and I look forward to many more Encounters with my sweet King πŸ™‚

If you remember anything from today’s post remember this… You don’t need a Church service or a Water Baptism or even a Pastor praying for you to have an “Encounter” with His wonderful, sweet presence… Holy Spirit is so simple but, so meaningful that you could receive a “touch” of his wonderful presence while drinking your tea this morning!!

You never know when he’s going to pop by… Better keep the kettle on πŸ˜‰

I have attached a link at the bottom of this post…it was the song playing while I was being baptized and it’s just such an amazing song… so take a minute, listen to it and open your heart to what the Holy Spirit wants to speak to YOU this morning… Have an incredibly blessed day!!!

I Hope you have enjoyed this post πŸ™‚ I sure had a great time writing it! Please leave a comment in the section below… We would love to hear your feed-back πŸ™‚
Thanks for reading…Until next time!

About Kerrington:

Kerrington is 15 years old and has been Home-schooled ever since Kindergarten to her current Grade 11. She has known Mandy and Cindy since the age of 10 through attending Vacation Bible Schools, Youth group and girls book clubs. She loves to drink tea all the time, read books, blogs and volunteer at her church in any way she can! She is the Children’s Worship Leader at her church and her dream has always been to one day become a Children’s pastor!!
In her “Free time” she babysits quite often as well! You can always find Kerrington with a little one wrapped up in her arms or a kiddo on her lap…she can’t get enough of them For all you young readers out there…1 Timothy 4:12 says: “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all Believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity.”

  1. Wow, out of the moth of babes, I couldn’t believe from your post you were only 15, grout wise beyond your years, it takes many people a lifetime to figure out what you’ve shared only at 15. Thank you for sharing your story and your wonderful life changing experience. It brought a tear of joy to my eye and something to truly reflect on. Thanks again Kerrington πŸ™‚

  2. Kerrington, I am so proud of you! Many people don’t ever get this revelation. I have to agree with every word you said, my most cherished times with Holy Spirit are when I’m alone. I think we often get caught up in the worship, songs, lights, hype, whatever, that we end up loving worship rather than loving TO worship, and we forget it’s all about Him. The more we keep our eyes on Him the more He blesses us! What an amazing God we serve. Thank you so much for the reminder and for sharing your heart with us. (I also love having my tea first thing in the morning while having devotions! )

  3. Thanks Kerrington For sharing. It was wonderful to share in your experience with how the Lord is working in you and through you. Young ladies need more role models in their lives who serve an Awesome God. Keep listening and doing what God wants you to do.

  4. It’s always wonderful to hear the heart of someone who has been encountered by God…….. I recognize the same rhythm that beats in my own Heart………even though we belong to a different generation…our hearts are tuned into the same Source …….we share the love of the same Father, and are pursing Him with our whole heart…. how wonderful to see someone so young pursuing God with such passion…….Have fun writing! You’re off to a great start!

  5. Kerrington that was such an encouraging message, It’s so true and sometimes we forget how simple it is to have an encounter with the one who lives inside of us. Thanks for reminding me and keep on writing your a natural.

  6. Kerrington, you are young in years but mature in your faith! My favourite line was “Holy Spirit is so simple but, so meaningful that you could receive a β€œtouch” of his wonderful presence while drinking your tea this morning!! You never know when he’s going to pop by… Better keep the kettle on ” Very well written, you can certainly captivate an audience. This was such a blessing to read, I can’t wait for more!!

  7. Wow Kerrington! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and insight:). Keep using your gifts for our Lord and listening to His soft still voice. He is using you to bless others, and that’s awesome! ❀

  8. Oh, Kerrington!! I am so excited for you! Thank you for sharing your heart in such a real and public way. I know God has a great plan for you and look forward to the glimpses I’ll have the privilege of sharing/reading about in the future! May God continue to bless you and fill your life with unexpected encounters. xox. πŸ™‚

  9. Lovely Kerrington. Well written! May the Lord continue to bless you with His presence as you seek His face. “Better is one day in His courts than thousands elsewhere.”
