I pray blessings on you and yours this very special time of year. I pray The Peace that surpasses all your understanding (Philippians 4:7) will dwell deep within you, overwhelmingly. I pray that you would be closer to Your Jesus like never before and that you would love Him with all of your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37). And serve Him in that same way. I pray for health and healing in you and your loved one’s lives. And I pray all these things in Jesus’ precious name.
Who are the ‘yours’ in your life? Who are those that God has chosen, birthed, allowed, directed, to walk beside you in this life? ‘Tis the season to be reminded of our ‘yours’ as we meet up with them, share a festive meal, receive a card or a phone call or text. To encounter them by happenchance or planned and scheduled. There are those that live close to us and those that live far.
Who are the ‘yours’ in your life?
Think on your acquaintances, co-workers, neighbours, fellow homeschooling Moms and the cashier that you chat with regularly. Have you met a stranger recently that has peeked your interest?
“Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:1 & 2)
Consider those you have prayed with and for, your Church family and those ministries brought to your awareness.
Who are your dearest friends that you have laughed with and cried with this year? Perhaps not blood relations but ever so close relationally. And those friends that you may not see often but when you re-connect, it is like time hasn’t passed.
When you sit for your Christmas meals who will be around your table? Who will not, but should be? Who will you stay up with to watch Christmas movies? Who will you tuck into bed that will not easily fall asleep because of excitement? When the presents are unwrapped and the kitchen is clean who will be there for you?
These are our ‘yours’; those God has placed in our lives to walk alongside. And they all matter to Him.
And what are we to do with our ‘yours?’
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 4:14-16)
Some of our relationships will be healthy, vibrant and well and some not so much. Some are dying because of neglect and some will be ripped apart and only surviving because of obligation. But they remain…..what are we to do with our ‘yours?’
Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13: 34 & 35)
We are to love like our Jesus; to give the gifts of love, mercy, and forgiveness. In the way He does, overwhelmingly and sacrificially. And the Holy Spirit can lead us if we ask.
For those relationships that need to be reconciled. Let’s meditate on forgiveness before our God, seek His wisdom and ask for help from the Holy Spirit and a divine opportunity for complete reconciliation.
These are all our ‘yours’; all those God has placed in our lives to walk alongside. And they all matter to Him.
So go ahead and call that someone you haven’t spoken to in a while; send a card to the so called family’s ‘black sheep’; and love on those closest to you without complaint.
Dear Heavenly and Gracious Lord,
God we want this Christmas to count. Help us to love; like You do; on those You have placed in our lives to have relationship with. God we ask for a Christmas miracle to reconcile relations and we also ask for the endurance and courage to do what it takes to have real and meaningful relationships all year round. God, we believe all this possible because of You! Thank You for giving us Jesus, who came in such a way to make all these things possible. We love You Lord! Merry Christmas!!! Amen.
