{Faith} Finding peace in the reality of my body.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:33-34)

As I have mentioned before I am currently involved in an online bible study that is journeying through the book “Made to Crave” written by Lysa TerKeurst. Today our bible study leaders, Melissa Taylor and Nicki Koziarz, along with author Lysa TerKeurst, shared a very inspiring and wise message.

Lysa TerKeurst, as many of you already know, is my favourite author!!! She lives and breathes wisdom and I absolutely love her heart. She’s the real deal! I have learned so much from her obedience to record the wisdom that our God has laid on her heart to share. This video message is no exception. She shared some truths that boosted my #determination and gave me a fresh hope to live victoriously. Here is a synopsis of what she shared:

I am only as healthy as the choices I make today.
“I do not need to worry about tomorrow….tomorrow will worry about itself.” (Matthew 6:34) What I do need to be mindful of is now, and making healthy choices today. As a result of making healthy choices today, I can walk in the victory of peace based on those choices. It’s not just reaching the end goal that will bring victory, but being victorious in every small step along the way.

Nothing tastes as good as peace feels.
This short sentence has challenged me in a huge way. It’s truth has absolutely inspired me to think outside of my box, and this is the reality: When I make a healthy food choice, I feel good and at peace. When I make an unhealthy food choice I feel regret and shame. This is something I will truly need to be mindful of when at a decision-making crossroad in the future.

This last part was my favorite part of the whole message. Lysa talks about how the Greek word for ‘seek’ is ‘zeteo’; and when translated, zeteo means crave. “But [CRAVE] first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you.”(Matthew 6:33) Our God wants our cravings to be for Him, sisters. Nothing else; not food, not alcohol, not romance or intimacy will ever satisfy the hunger of our souls like Jesus.

So sister-friends, is possible to make #peace with the realities of our bodies?

Yes!!

How? By seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and by consciously making healthy choices today knowing that peace and victory come as a result of doing good.

Thank You Jesus for the work you are doing in my life and so many other women around the world. As human beings we were made to crave; and You so desperately want our craving souls to crave only You. Jesus, please help us with that. We so struggle with allowing other things to blur our focus from Your splendor. Please keep in clear sight, the victory that we have in You. We love You, Jesus, and we believe that now is the time to claim that peace You have for us. We bless You, Father. In Jesus name, amen.

  1. POWER PACKED, TRUTH-FILLED message you shared! Thank you! I too loved this portion from Lysa’s message (and she is one of my favorite authors too!!)…..Lysa talks about how the Greek word for ‘seek’ is ‘zeteo’; and when translated, zeteo means crave. “But [CRAVE] first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you.”(Matthew 6:33) Seeking/Craving God FIRST is what FILLS US UP and brings the most JOY! Thank you again for your message.
