{Faith} A Personal Assessment.

Written By: Mandy Hill

Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (Romans 12:1-2)

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately on my relationship with my Saviour. I’ve been evaluating my spiritual growth over the last several years, as well as the fruit that is evident in my daily life.

Have you ever surveyed yourself this way?! If you did, how would you say you were doing?! Are you feeling like you know Jesus better today than you did one year ago? Is there genuine fruit in your life that speaks as a testimony of your spiritual growth?

How do you act outside of Sunday church?! Do you pull your faith on like an article of clothing- choosing which day and where you will allow its visibility? Or is your faith deep-rooted and mature? Are you using your ordinary life to share the gospel of Jesus with those people in your everyday? Or do you blend in with the crowd, afraid to share your faith? Is your faith strong, or does it waver with circumstance? Is your attention and your thoughts directed on God, or do they flow with culture?

What are your goals in life?! Do they centre around career, money and status?! Or do they centre around growing spiritually mature, and reaching milestones in your relationship with Him?!

While heavy questions, I believe it’s important to sometimes step back and evaluate your relationship with Christ. We often boast about our relationship with Christ being the most important relationship we have; so let’s endeavour to nourish it. Let’s set goals for ourselves spiritually and then work hard to achieve them. And most importantly, let’s embrace the very thing God does so beautifully; He loves us unconditionally.

Heavenly Father, please bless my sisters as they choose to follow You. Please let faith become a tangible constant in their lives, a constant in which they can’t help but share out of its abundance. Thank You, Lord, for your unwavering unconditional love. We bless You! Amen.
